Highland Cattle, one of the oldest and most distinctive cattle breeds, originated in the rugged Highlands and islands of Scotland. These hardy animals are known for their long, shaggy coats, which help them withstand harsh weather conditions. They were first documented in the 6th century, although their ancestry likely goes back even further.
Historically, Highland Cattle were highly prized for their resilience, being able to graze on rough terrain and survive in extreme climates. Their meat became renowned for its quality—lean, well-marbled, and flavorful. Over the centuries, they have spread beyond Scotland, gaining global recognition for their exceptional beef and ability to adapt to various environments.
Today, Highland Cattle are celebrated not only for their heritage and unique appearance but also for their contribution to sustainable farming practices. Their popularity continues to grow as they remain a symbol of strength, tradition, and quality
